Languages of the World

I am a language enthusiast.  My mind soaks it up like a sponge (at least the vocabulary anyway), and I am always fascinated by the many gibberish sounds that begin to take meaning.  Someday, I know I will be bilingual.  My goal is to speak Chinese fluently enough to teach in it if necessary.  I know Chinese is a hard language to learn, but I am excited to do it.  I can’t wait to begin learning their print system so that I can actually begin reading their symbols.  It excites me to think about my language learning years being immersed in their culture and their language! Soon, this day will come.

I also love listening to worship songs in other languages.  Every once in a while, I will be able to catch enough words to sing a few lines, but ultimately I sit thinking about heaven.  I think of all the nations of the world sitting at the throne room of God singing, “Holy, holy, God Almighty, he reigns!” The worship of nations is beautiful.  It is no wonder God covets our worship because as he hears every cry to God across the world simultaneously, he is hearing the greatest choir the world will never know.  Language is fascinating!  And to think we all used to speak the same language.

Although we no longer speak the same language, I have learned over the years that there is one language that every man understands and is a language that I only can speak with the help of an infinitely supernatural God.  I pray that I become fluent in it.  I pray that I do it without even thinking, that everyone may see my God in it.  The one thing that transcends all barriers and all tongues is the language of love.  If my life speaks love to those around me, I would dare to dream that people would discover my God and be changed.

I love hearing people's responses. Post below...
