In life, it is easy to forget how great God is. It is easy to get caught up in the cycle of life and lose sight of God’s holiness, power, relentless love, abundant grace, unexplainable mercy. It is easy to begin trusting ourselves again. This is why it is so critical to daily wash ourselves with the Word of God!!
I used to think that if I didn’t get an eye-opening, tear-jerking, life-altering revelation from God as I was reading, than my personal time was of no value. That is a lie from the pit of hell to deceive me from seeking God through His Word. As I redevelop the habit of seeking God, I am realizing that God will make certain things stand out to me as I read; it’s like a gentle push or even sometimes a gentle hug.
God speaks to me through His Word. He reminds me to trust Him deeper than I did the day before. He reminds me that His love is pure and relentless for me and to live life as a reflection of His love. He reminds me to live life “Holy as He is Holy.” He reminds me that His Word brings life. He reminds me to submit to my husband like the church submits to Christ. He reminds me to put on the full armor of God. He reminds me to seek Him whole heartedly and to clothe my family in prayer.
The Bible is full of great wisdom and no matter how much I seek God, there is more to learn. I will never reach a point where I will be able to depend solely on what I know to live right. I need God’s reminders to see how “living right” looks. Sure, it boils down to love God and love others, but there is so much more depth to that. I need God’s Word, and I am so thankful for My Loving Father’s gentle reminders!
